Schmidt Hammer Lassen is looking for an experienced and structured Operations Director. This is a key position that combines strategic insight with operational management and a strong people focus.

As Operations Director, you will work across the studio with a 360-degree perspective, ensuring high-quality project delivery, strong financial performance, effective risk management, and continuous development of our people and organization. You will collaborate closely with the partner group, the studio management, and our Business Development-team.

You bring a deep understanding of architectural projects and design practice, allowing you to work credibly with project leaders and partners. You thrive in close collaboration with Business Development, particularly around proposals and PQ work, and you are motivated by building a high-quality business that delivers excellent results for clients while supporting and developing employees.

To succeed in this role, you balance strategic priorities across projects, staffing, and risk with a data-driven and future-oriented approach. As Operations Director you report to the CEO of Schmidt Hammer Lassen.

Responsibilities

Lead staffing and workforce planning.
Work closely with project leaders to ensure quality, profitability, and timeliness.
Use data and insights to support staffing, decision-making and forecasts.
Manage risks by reviewing and approving fee proposals and contracts with respect to scope, fee and schedule.
Establish and optimize structures, processes, and protocols that support quality in project teams.
Work closely with Business Development on strategy, proposals, tenders, and PQ work.
Partner with People & Culture on both competence and organizational development.

We imagine that you have…

A deep knowledge of projects and project delivery within an architecture studio.
10+ years of experience in the field of architecture or architectural technology.
Worked extensively on multiple large-scale projects, including management of fee, contract and staffing.
Great understanding of producing proposals, tenders and PQ work.
Experience in working directly with clients during a project and in negotiations regarding fees, contract terms and project schedules.
A strong leadership awareness and a genuine motivation to further develop your own leadership identity.
A professional proficiency in Danish.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and experience managing or directing project teams.

Practical details
As Operations Director you work across our two studios in Aarhus and Copenhagen.

It is a full-time position based in our Copenhagen studio.
