    We are looking for a highly engaged and driven global advisor to assist in the development of guidelines, policies and tools with the aim of supporting DRC's global commitment to reaching hard to reach populations with principled humanitarian assistance in the world's most challenging contexts. Currently, DRC is developing a global approach to access, that strives to be field relevant, accountable, and principled. The Global Access/H2R Advisor will need to be someone with practical and relevant field experience delivering programs in complex contexts to ensure that the global approach to access is grounded in field realities, while also having a global vision to develop policies and guidelines that can be applied across various country contexts.

    Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Support program implementation in various DRC country missions, including short term field deployments and remote technical support
  • Work with other global advisors/specialist to develop field relevant tools for accessing hard to reach populations. To include in country testing of tools and feeding into ongoing learning and development
  • Support the development of DRC tools, policies and guidelines globally, specifically in the field of access
  • Ensure that high quality, integrated, and needs-based proposals, and programs are developed and according to DRC's priorities as identified in its global and country specific strategic planning
  • Ensure access considerations are mainstreamed through all departments and strategic planning
  • Be part of a team to develop critical and innovative research that challenges the status quo of humanitarian action and support advocacy efforts to better reach populations of concern
  • Work closely with HQ focal points to roll out access initiatives globally
  • Travel approximately 20-30% a year (Travel may increase or decrease depending on global context).
  • To be successful in this role we expect you to have a proven record of a willingness and desire to work in complex environments which have critical access constraints. All employees should master DRCs core competencies: Communicating, Taking the lead, Collaboration, Striving for excellence and Demonstrating integrity. Moreover, we also expect the following:

    Required:

  • Minimum 5 years' relevant experience in emergency planning, implementation, and monitoring of activities and projects according to internal and national guidelines, agreements, and international standards
  • Proven experience working in complex emergency contexts, including provision of technical advice to field teams and program development with a particular focus on programs that had at their core access issues and constraints.
  • A University level degree in relevant subject or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Proven ability to live and work in an unstable, insecure environment
  • Ability to understand and integrate protection issues
