    The position
    The Department of Food Science is seeking applications for a two-year academic employee (AC-TAP). The position includes scientific research support, as well as project management. The intended start date for this appointment is 1 July 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter.


    The candidate

    The candidate is expected to:
  • Participate in project related activities, including meetings, presentations, and project reviews
  • Assist with day-to-day laboratory activities in advanced analytical measurements, analytical chromatography, rheology, scattering analysis
  • Train and assist students and other users in above analytical measurements techniques
  • Coordinate and manage projects
  • Collect, curate and analyze data, including statistical analysis, and assist with the interpretation of results
  • Develop methods to deliver on projects
  • Deliver a first draft of manuscript
  • The candidate will be a part of a team focusing on food chemistry and physics, colloid chemistry and processing.

    Qualifications

    The successful candidate must have:
  • A PhD degree in food science, chemistry or similar
  • A solid understanding of analytical chemistry and understand of food ingredient interactions, especially related to biopolymer chemistry
  • A strong background in instrumentation, instrument control software, and data collection as well as experience in implementation of advanced experiments.
  • Some understanding of engineering approaches
  • Hands-on experience in maintenance and trouble-shooting of particular chromatography and scattering equipment
  • A basic understanding of the principles behind the above instrumental techniques
  • Documented ability to edit, writing and submitting reports and research papers
  • The following is also considered beneficial:
  • Ability to manage projects, manage timelines
  • Organize meetings, coordinate and organize events, both in person and on line
  • Ability to clearly communicate research activities to peers, industry and pitch new project ideas
  • A documented ability to manage product development projects and coordinate teams
  • A multidisciplinary approach to support successful delivery of research projects

  • The Department of Food Science

    The Department of Food Science is part of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Aarhus University and includes research within the areas Biofunctional Food, Systems Biology, Food Chemistry and Physics, Food Processing, Food Metabolomics, Sensory Science and Plant Production. The Department currently employs 60 full time scientific staff, approx. 50 PhD students and Postdocs, plus approx. 30 visiting students and staff who together contribute to an international research environment where English is the preferred language in the laboratory, at meetings and at seminars.
