    Responsibilities:

    The Procurement Team in Maersk Line is looking for a Procurement Manager responsible for Maersk spend in Malaysia with a focus on Warehousing and Distribution.

    We are looking for a Procurement Manager to be responsible for procurement and contract management of, but not limited to, the Warehouse and Distribution activities in Malaysia, positioned in Damansara , and reporting to Country L&S Procurement Manager.

    Experience in supply chain management and logistics is a necessity when applying. This, combined with awareness of cost drivers and sourcing processes, will be highly valued in the selection process. Prior experience within the Warehousing and Distribution or Third-Party Logistics sphere will be a plus. The individual we are looking for must have strong communication & interpersonal skills through which he or she will engage a broad range of colleagues and stakeholders locally, regionally, and globally across a wide range of functions. The person will be responsible for driving key procurement projects forward and will be an integral part of the team and its ability to deliver on our ambitious goals in Maersk.

    Asset Acquisition acquires or procures physical assets for operating Maersk's E2E transport & logistics business such as: seagoing vessels and towing watercraft; containers; terminal assets e.g. cranes, ports/terminals; warehouse assets e.g. depots, yards, CFS, storage; aircraft; trucks; and more.

    Excluded from scope: Indirect operations purchasing (e.g. software, office equipment), and office real estate which is acquired and managed by Facilities Management function.
    Professional stream includes those who are individual contributors with main emphasis on applying technical/discipline knowledge rather than managing people to achieve results – although coaching/mentoring less experienced staff, informal supervisory responsibilities, or overseeing work of other lower level professionals or manage processes and program are common.

    Individual work ranges from setting objectives and delivering on own work responsibilities to being a leading expert within a given field and influencing long term tactical decisions of the organization.

    Progression within this stream reflects increasing depth of professional knowledge, project management capability, and the ability to influence others.
    A colleague at this level has in-depth knowledge and experience in a functional area. The colleague routinely applies subject matter knowledge to solve common business issues operating within practices and procedures covered by precedents or well-defined policies. A colleague at this level handles most situations independently, receives minimal guidance, but will seek advice, guidance and support on more complex or non-routine topics.

    The colleague understands the overall nature of the business and the interdependencies between own and other functions.

    Leaders at this level are accountable for performance and results in teams of less experienced professionals, frontline workers and admins, and will adapt departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.

    Other Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute sourcing projects for, but not limited to, self-managed and outsourced warehouse and distribution activities. Key elements include third party warehousing contracts, lease agreements, equipment and infrastructure purchase or rental, labor contracts, consumables & trucking services
  • Support the Product Team to create solutions for different customer segments (E-commerce, cold chain, distribution center, consolidation / deconsolidation etc )
  • Review, develop and implement the procurement strategy in Malaysia
  • Achieve and exceed saving targets agreed with management team
  • Support preparation and execution of major bids and ensure alignment with relevant internal stakeholders and partners
  • Establish contact with key suppliers to acquire information on service offerings, understand their market approach and enable a better and closer working relationship.
  • Actively monitor supplier landscape in Malaysia and build up new suppliers to enable them to meet the organization's standards and requirements in future, to ensure reliable supply at competitive prices and to manage markets risks
  • Execute procurement activities in line with Maersk policies and procedures and document relevant steps in accordance with guidelines
  • Ensure contracts are in place with suppliers
  • To support the optimum use of procurement tools and systems
  • We are looking for

  • Extensive experience in Warehouse Operations or Logistics field and experience in domestics and import/export road transport procurement are needed.
  • Sourcing and vendor management Skill
  • Strong analytical and strategic planning skills
  • Strong negotiation and commercial skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, English and Bahasa Malaysia
  • Substantial understanding in contractual law governing Transport and Logistics, Real Estate and Warehousing
  • Highly motivated, result oriented, ability to learn quickly
  • Constructively question and challenges assumption
  • Advanced MS Excel, Power Point, Word skills. Knowledge of MS Access desirable
