We are looking for a Data Engineer to empower Asset Management’s Investments and Trading Team. ​This is an opportunity for someone that wants to work with smart and demanding people in a collaborative environment.

The role will not only require technical nous but would demand dexterity in terms of interacting with a variety of stakeholders, as you gather inputs from the business, for instance Trading Quants, Business Development, etc.

Working in collaboration with the Investments and Tradings Team that consists of domain experts, Quants and Data Scientists, you will be part of modelling and developing the platform for a leading European Asset Manager. ​

The right candidate will be mentored to produce leading edge technology that will make an high business impact. It is a continuous journey, as there will be new requirements on an ongoing basis, where you with team members from Investments Solutions will analyse the requirements of the business and execute projects to fulfil them. In the end, Investments Solutions will own the solution; hence, support it after its deployment.

What you’ll be doing:

You will in cooporation with your team members and business users be responsible for developing and modeling the data platform. This includes both business and technical design with our Investments and Trading Team, and development of the solutions, in collaboration with highly experienced Python, C# /.Net and Java/Scala developers and Data Engineers.

Essentially, you will work the full stack and ensure that the deliveries are managed expertly, delivered on-time and on-quality. The tasks will include:

  • Specification of requirements through discussions with the Investments and Trading Team
  • System design through discussions with other developers
  • Hands-on development
  • Testing
  • Implementation
  • Support after the product has been delivered

    Your profile and background:

    Most important is an acknowledgement of an ever changing future and an appetite to explore and be ahead in the game. This position could be suitable for you as a Data Engineer with experience in the Financial markets or a graduate, who is looking to take the initial steps in a career in finance and get a really broad exposure. You could be the right candidate, if you have a strong logical mind supported by a strong portfolio of IT skills

    You have excellent skills in Python and we expect you to have experience with the `Big Data` ecosystem or a strong desire to learn. Finally we expect you have experience in all or some of SQL, Python, R, C#, Linux or other open source technologies.

    Prior exposure to financial markets, algorithms and machine learning will be an advantage.

    Bonus points for experience with container technology (Docker or Kubernetes).

    We have split our requirements in IT Technical skills and Market Technical skills. IT skills requirements include:

  • Strong Python development competences
  • Working SQL Knowledge and experience working with relational databases as well as a variety of other databases
  • Experience building and optimizing data pipelines
  • `Big Data` Ecosystem
  • Comfortable with Unix/Linux environments
  • Test driven development (using the Python 'unittest' framework or an alternative to produce automated tests of the code developed)
  • CICD with Python applications. Using a tool such as Bamboo/Jenkins/TeamCity to automate
  • Knowledge of Java / Scala / C# / .NET
  • Our ideal candidate will have the following Market Technical skills, These skills, however, are not a prerequisite to succeed in the recruitment process:

  • Market Data processing
  • Knowledge of equities / Fixed Income / FX markets
  • Finally, you take responsibility and feel a strong ownership of your design and your solutions. You are an outgoing and service minded team player and possess good communication skills and a good command of written and oral English.
