The Engineering Manager will have responsibility for multiple cross-functional software development teams developing a energy efficiency insights and optimisation product in areas such as Energy production & Reporting, Voyage Planning & Execution and Advanced Vessel Modelling all targeting reduction of the carbon footprint.
Key responsibilities include:
•Lead a cross functional team of highly motivated Software Engineers, Product Designers and Data scientists towards building and delivering solutions that support strategic business outcomes around energy efficiency and decarbonization.
•Be a true servant-leader to the teams, by removing roadblocks and helping them deliver value to Maersk’s customers.
•Help your team members grow their careers through regular 1:1s and coaching
•Contribute to discussions on the technical roadmap, by helping to connect the dots between teams, other IoT platform and Fleet initiatives and the wider Technology organisation.
•Collaborate with the Product and SME (Subject Matter Expert) squads to clarify, refine, and communicate product priorities (we use a quarterly OKR cycle, with weekly check-ins for Progress, Plans and Problems).
•Promote a culture of learning and feedback.
We are looking for
We are looking for a leader of technology and people, with:
•Leadership experience building data-driven, IoT-enabled products and solutions using modern software engineering practices
•Experience driving highly technical data-driven product development, ideally with an understanding of the flow of data between the edge (our vessels) and the cloud.
•Experience leading teams in an agile software engineering and DevOps setting (our tech stack includes Kubernetes, Go, .NET, Python, SQL Server, Postgres etc. deployed on Azure and custom environments on vessels)
•Experience leading teams in developing analytics and data science products.
•Strong engineering knowledge and capabilities, keeping up to date with industry best practices and trends
•An understanding of the trade-off between technical investments and continual delivery of business outcomes
•The ability to lead and develop your teams, as we take development of engineering talent seriously
•At ease managing stakeholders
