at Ballard Europe. This manger role will lead and grow a team of over 30, including engineers from various disciplines (mechanical, electrical, software, systems testing and electronics), will bring in new innovative thinking and perspectives, and will help Ballard to continue to build product development excellence in fuel cell systems.

The key responsibility of the Design Center Manager is to support our talented team to work effectively, to execute our projects on specification and meet deadlines. The main tasks are: Support and grow the capabilities in the Design Center in-line with company strategic plans Recruiting, leading and continuously developing through personal leadership and collaborative teamwork building a world-class team of professionals. Assist in developing the strategy focus and game plan execution Enhancing Ballard’s methodology for the design, development, test and release of our products, by improving and updating the development processes Directly responsible for functional team operating budget to maximize use of resources and product delivery. To succeed in this role, you will be a collaborative and innovative leader with a strong technical background. You will have successfully provided expertise to develop and bring industrial-level products to market and you will have managed large, multi-discipline engineering teams with > 30 people and be a strategic leader with a demonstrated track record of successful leadership.
In addition to your technical and leadership skills, you will have the ability to bridge technology with business acumen, will bring experience in developing commercial products, and will develop and sustain a culture of passion, commitment and innovation that will make Ballard a great place to work. Specific Experience: Previous leadership roles in system product development and engineering in technically complex organizations and team size (30+). Previous advanced technical and leadership in energy converting. Excellent technology understanding, exceptional leadership and communication capabilities, and the ability to think strategically. Thorough business experience/understanding of technical project impacts to other functions, including supply chain, manufacturing, finance and sales. Proven ability facilitating, influencing and working across functions towards the achievement of challenging and complex technical goals. Specific know-how within automotive, marine, rail will be an advantage. Relevant degree: engineering (mechanical, electrical, electronics) strongly preferred. Postgraduate preferred.
