Section of Plant Glycobiology, Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Science at University of Copenhagen is offering two postdoc positions with start July 1st 2021, or as soon as possible thereafter for a period of at least two years. The postdoc positions will be associated with the Plant Cell Biology/Cellulose synthesis group (Prof. Staffan Persson) at PLEN, and with the Experimental Biophysics group (Assoc Profs. Poul Martin Bendix and Liselotte Jauffred) at the NBI, Copenhagen University. The work aims to develop, and use, biophysics approaches to address important biological problems. The applicants are expected to be well versed in building new instruments and set-ups to study biological systems. It is expected that the applicants have strong background in at least one area of optics, biophysics and bioengineering.
You will work in a highly cross-disciplinary team that includes the full range of microscopy, proteomics, glycomics, biochemistry, biophysics and molecular biology. You will aid in the development of new biophysical instrumentation and ideas for applications to biological questions. These questions may include, how plants heal themseleves after injuries, measuring protein-protein interaction strength and assessing how cell shape influences cell wall patterns. Together, these efforts should stimulate a new and exciting environment between plant science and biophysics with the aim of understanding fundamental mechanisms that underpin biology. Therefore, we are looking for two self-motivated scientists who can work independently and assist in building a highly interdisciplinary environment between biology and physics. Finally, your tasks will include supervision of students and lab technicians, as well as to actively apply for funding.
