At the Department of Culture and Learning, Aalborg University, Campus Aalborg an assistant professor position is available as of 1 February 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a 3-year full-time fixed-term position that includes both research and teaching activities. 

For appointment as an assistant professor, the ideal candidate is expected to:

  • teach, supervise and examine students in bachelor's and master's degree (kandidat, master) programmes in Learning and Change Processes.
  • conduct research and publish research products at a high quality level in recognised venues
  • participate in external research networks and partnerships, and in doing so create and maintain productive relationships with researchers across disciplines and with social and cultural backgrounds
  • engage in knowledge collaboration related to the position's scientific portfolio
  • contribute in a positive and constructive manner to the overall activities and working environment of the Department of Culture and Learning and actively participate in a research group/centre, more specifically Centre for Education Policy Research (CfU).

    • Appointment as an assistant professor requires academic qualifications at the PhD level, including an approved PhD thesis.

    In relation to research, the applicant is expected to document:

  • experience, competences and achievements demonstrating the ability to deliver high-quality research
  • a research plan that harmonizes with the Department of Culture and Learnings strategy and the profile of Centre for Education Policy Research and shows the applicant's plans for developing new research products and projects.
  • experience with research-informed interactions with society and communities

    • In relation to teaching, the applicant is expected to document:

  • experience, competences and achievements demonstrating the ability to provide high-level instruction within the area of the learning- and education study programmes, including pedagogical considerations and approaches, and conduct student supervision, seminars, lectures etc.
  • at Aalborg University our learning approach is problem-based learning (PBL). Documented experience with this learning approach is therefore considered an advantage but is not a prerequisite.
  • experience with developing teaching and supervision in intercultural contexts

    • The applicant is expected to document the ability to teach, supervise and assess both written and oral presentations in Danish. Alternatively, the ideal applicant is expected to acquire relevant linguistic competence within an agreed timeframe. From the outset, the applicant must document the ability to teach, supervise and assess both written and oral presentations in English.
