Postdoc in Electrochemical Sensing of SOx Emissions (BB-49C24)
Found in: Neuvoo DK
Description:
Are you a skilled electrochemist and do you have experience in solid state synthesis and characterization? Would you like to use your skills to help securing a cleaner air environment? Then this 2-year postdoc position on electrochemical SOx sensors may be a position for you!
Emissions of SOx from the shipping industry is a major environmental concern. For this reason, increasingly stricter regulations on the SOx emissions from ships have been implemented, together with a requirement for the ships to self-monitor the SOx emissions.
Monitoring of SOx emissions require cheap, reliable and durable SOx-sensors. The core in the present project, funded by the Danish Maritime Fund, is to develop a novel, electrochemical SOx-sensor, based on a novel potassium-ion conducting electrolyte and mixed conducting electrodes.
Responsibilities and tasks
Within the present project, you will be in charge of both synthesis and structural and electrical characterization of novel K-ion conducting electrolyte materials (recently reported in Nature Communications) and SOx sensing electrodes based on perovskites. Furthermore, a major part of the project is to fabricate and electrochemically characterize the full sensor devices with potassium conducting electrolyte and the perovskite based sensing electrodes.
The main activity will take place at the Department of Energy Conversion and Storage at DTU Lyngby campus and you will be a part of the research section “Solid State Chemistry”.
Qualifications
To be qualified for the position you should have:
It is furthermore important that you:
Experience in processing of ceramic materials is advantageous, but not mandatory.
You are expected to start medio April 2021 and the duration of the position is 2-years.
