The successful applicant will be expected to lead the development of numerical modelling code of cross-borehole 3D ERT and IP data within the GIREM project. This includes further development and testing of an existing 3D ERT/IP modelling and inversion code as well as additional optimization with regards to parallelization and cloud computing.

The applicant is also expected to contribute to data acquisition, planning fieldwork, testing new ERT/IP instruments, designing measurement protocols, improving data processing techniques, and planning data flow from the field to the final inversion model together with the other PhDs and postdocs in the GIREM project.

Furthermore, together with other scientists in the group, the applicant will be required to write scientific paper to be submitted to international peer reviewed journals. The applicant will co-supervise PhD students, master students, and bachelor students and will also be expected to contribute to undergraduate/graduate courses taught by researchers at HGG.

Qualifications
Education: PhD degree in Geophysics/Hydrogeophysics from a renowned institution/university.

Experience:
  • Experience and proven expertise in near-surface geophysical data acquisition, data processing, imaging, and inversion.
  • Experience and proven expertise in programming and numerical modeling. Preferably experience with Fortran and Matlab.
  • Experience and proven expertise in high performance computing including OpenMP parallelization.
  • The applicant is expected to have written several scientific papers and have large experience presenting scientific results at conferences and meetings.
  • Previous experience in supervising/teaching bachelor/master/PhD students is a benefit.
