Field Support Manager

In 2012, Banedanmark, the Danish rail infrastructure, awarded a consortium composed of Thales and Strukton Rail with a contract to upgrade the Signaling system in Jutland, the Western part of Denmark to the new European ETCS Level 2 system. Overall approx. 1.200 km of the Danish railway network will be upgraded step-by-step and sub-sequentially put under the responsibility of Customer Service.

The Customer Service goal is to ensure an efficient preventive and corrective maintenance of the newly implemented railway signalling system. This will be an important activity to provide a fully functional signalling system in Jutland according to the defined service level goals.

We are currently looking for the Field Support Manager to join the Customer Service organization in Thales Denmark A/S. The main purpose of the Field Support team, which today consists of Thales own and Banedanmark personnel, is to operate the service desk 24/7, monitoring the alarms of Banedanmark's signalling system, to ensure preventive maintenance and in case of system failure, to secure a quick and efficiently correction (so called First Line maintenance).

Reporting to the Customer Service Manager, the Field Support Manager will be responsible to perform the tasks needed in relation to:

  • Lead and Manage the Field Support Team (8 people)

  • Work closely with our Customer Banedanmark, own team and internal partners (Strukton, Thales suppliers, Thales F-Bane team) to ensure customer satisfaction

  • Plan resources and continuously improve processes in the Thales-Strukton Service Desk in Fredericia 24/7 - 365

  • Plan resources the preventive maintenance activities on a yearly basis

  • Define and implement corrective maintenance activities in close cooperation with internal partners

  • Ensure the right level of competency of the team

  • Propose improvement in terms of process and tools related to preventive and corrective maintenance

  • Monitor, control and report the Field Support activities: internally on a weekly basis, to Banedanmark on a monthly basis

  • Skills and experience

  • Professional, responsible and team player working attitude

  • Organised, accurate and a time keeper (reaches deadlines)

  • Team leader experience

  • Experience in industry with installation, test and/or maintenance work

  • IT knowledge (MS Office) 

  • Knowledge of railway operation and signalling principles will be an advantage

  • Knowledge about SAP will be an advantage

  • Danish fluency (native or on a professional level) and English on a professional level
