At the Technical Faculty of IT and Design, Department of Planning, a position as Associate professor in economy and sustainable energy planning is open for appointment from 1 August or soon thereafter in either Aalborg or Copenhagen At Department of Planning, we have about 200 employees situated at the Aalborg and Copenhagen campus. The department provides high-quality research and teaching in the field of planning, technology and society in order to create a more sustainable future. It is also at Department of Planning that the UNESCO Center for Problem-Based Learning is at home. Job description
The Department of Planning conducts research and teaching on planning in a broad sense, including technological, economic and social science aspects. Within energy planning, focus is on the transition towards sustainable energy systems and how to support and accommodate the technological transition through an open and inclusive democratic discourse, policies, ownership structures and other framework conditions.
For the specific position, generally, the research areas will be linked to the interdisciplinary study of the interrelationships between energy technology and institutional economics. This concerns both the analysis of how present policy discourses and socio-economic conditions influence the technological development at the energy scene, and the development of democratic inclusive policy discourses, policy scenarios with democratic inclusive organisations and/or institutions and market designs in the rapid transition towards renewable smart energy systems.
The research area also concerns project-related innovative feasibility studies where the purpose is to study radical long-term technological alternatives, and to localize and study the institutional conditions that influence the realization of these technical solutions.
Successful candidates will engage in the public debate.
Teaching and supervision will primarily be in concrete institutional economics and technological development. This will be within the bachelor’s programme in Urban, Energy and Environmental Planning, the master’s programme in Sustainable Energy Planning and Management and the master’s program in Sustainable Cities as well as in other study programmes at the University.
Qualification requirements:
The level of qualification for Associate Professors shall correspond to the level, which can be achieved on the basis of the appointment as Assistant Professor, but may be achievable in other ways. The appointment presupposes that the applicant can demonstrate original scientific production at an international level as well as documented teaching qualifications. Appointment to the position requires that both research and teaching qualifications are at the requested level. The two qualifications will be given equal and principal priority in the overall assessment.

Employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Finance's current Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Employment and salary are in accordance with the collective agreement for state-employed academics.
